Preventing Lip Wrinkles and Lines on the Face
The tissues surrounding your lips are some of the most delicate parts of your body. They are in constant motion and are subjected to all kinds of damaging external factors, from pollution to harmful make up products to dehydration. It is no surprise then, that very early on “puckering” of the skin occurs, which translates into lines and wrinkles above the lips. These wrinkles create a terribly aging effect in womens overall appearance and they are, without any doubt, some of the most displeasing signs of old age.
If you already have wrinkles above your lips you probably have worn lipstick or other number of products containing wax derivatives or petroleum by-products. They are exceedingly common and very harmful to the delicate skin on and around your lips.
Despite the fact that most products are design to feel smooth and soft on your lips, wax and petroleum products compromise the bodys innate ability to keep these tissues hydrated naturally and they eventually become dry and cracked.
This prolonged state of dehydration decreases the volume of the lips while creating vertical lines on the lip surface. This is the very onset of wrinkles along the upper and lower lips.
The fragile skin on the lips often acts as a precursor to other more systemic problems in the body. This area is rich in capillaries and nerve endings and it will be the first to indicate that your body is trying to fight off an illness or disease. Lips will also be the first to show signs of unhealthy, destructive stress, dehydration, hypothermia or poor circulation.
As with most skin issues, prevention is key to avoiding lip wrinkles. The skin that makes up the lips and surrounds the mouth is exceptionally delicate and susceptible to damage. Ironically, most of us do not think of protecting the lips from the sun and this area suffers a great deal of damage from excessive sun exposure. Something as simple as using a lip balm with sunscreen can prevent wrinkles and even skin cancer.
Smoking is considered a major wrinkle-causing factor, and should always be avoided. It not only creates wrinkles by mechanically inducing the crinkling of the lips, but it also impedes proper hydration of the skin causing it to lose elasticity and natural collagen.
If lip wrinkles are mild, home remedies are a good option before trying anything more drastic. Using almond, coconut, or olive oil can help improve the appearance of fine lines and restore needed moisture. Vitamin E can also be a good solution when applied every day.
Over-the-counter products may help reduce the appearance of wrinkles when used consistently. They may replace some of the suppleness already lost. Particularly effective are retinol-based creams that deliver a powerful dose of Vitamin A to the skin, encouraging cellular turnover that is lost with age or sun damage. Although lip-plumping glosses, balms, and lipsticks are quite popular, they are only a source of temporary relief. They contain stimulants that cause the lips to puff or swell slightly, giving the momentary appearance of a fuller mouth.
Do consider your options before resorting to drastic and expensive methods. Even though there are many procedures available to treat lip wrinkles, many are painful, costly and even dangerous in the long run. Keep up a healthy lifestyle and age gracefully and beautifully with the help of the right natural, safe cosmetics.

I have blonde hairs above my lip and they arent noticable except on the outter corners of my lips. With lip waxing, when the hairs start growing back are they black and noticable? How noticable will they be before you can get them waxed again? Thanks

This is a common problem with women with dark hair in particular. I would suggest a combination or waxing the hairs, or if you’re really self conscious about they way that they grow back, you could try bleaching them blond. You can buy these from local stores, they’re generally inexpensive and relatively simple to use. This only bleaches the hair so it’s unnoticeable and the hair stays fine. Alternatively, if it’s a small amount of hair, you might be brave enough to pluck the offending hairs.

they’ll be the same color as they were before you waxed, waxing hair doesn’t change it’s color. they’ll also be just as noticeable when they grow back as they were before. i believe you have to wait for a 1cm growout before you can wax again, but i could be wrong.
if they bother you a lot (which if you ask me, you should feel lucky that they’re blonde, and not dark brown like mine were (gee, thanks birth control pill)) and waxing doesn’t seem like a good enough option to you, you can get laser hair removal, which is what i did. it cost me $ 50 for one treatment, and those hairs haven’t seen the light of day since i got it done, which was about a year ago now.
good luck, mustaches suck.

To be honest it is a disaster. Once you get them waxed you may need to get it done every 1-2 weeks depending on your hair growth. Another thing that I know that I have tried before is to wax at home. Go to Sallies or another beauty supply store and get some microwavable wax (not strips they always leave red marks for days). Oh and another thing after you microwave it, make sure that you test it so it does not burn you. hope this helps, best of luck.
your hair on your upper lip will grow back same color as the one you ripped out. it will not get thicker, or darker. If that were true all the men who were going bald in the world would start waxing their heads to promote hair growth.
You may need to go back any where from 2 – 4 weeks to have it done.
they needto probably be 1/8″ to 1/4″ long to be waxed.
Laser treatment is probably not the best option for you either. Lasers work best on dark hair with light skin. It may take a lot of treatments for the blonde hair.
